Kevaughn began acting in NYC public schools. Although he graduated from Cornell University with a degree in psychology he spent countless hours holed up in the Cornell Theatre Department. At Cornell, Kevaughn played Lucky in Waiting for Godot directed by the Granddaddy of Performance Studies, Richard Schechner. The production toured to the Theatre Confrontations Festival in Lublin Poland where he visited hallowed ground, outsmarted skinheads, and learned the joys of the pierogi.  He also had the honor of playing Joseph Asagai in A Raisin in the Sun opposite the late Yolanda King, the eldest daughter of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as Mama.

After college he worked as a teaching artist, touring plays and educational workshops to students all over New York State. Kevaughn has worked with many great theaters around the country including Yale Repertory Theatre, Trinity Repertory, Target Margin Theatre, and the Hangar Theatre.
